Teachers who regularly engage in social and professional ways with other educators beyond their classrooms are much more likely to display the professional hallmarks of continuous inquiry and effective teaching than their colleagues who operate in isolation behind their classroom doors (Riel & Becker, 2000; Darling-Hammond, 1999; Wilson & Berne, 1999).
